To be honest I expected something … bit different . If we consider the length of this ep – it could be argued that the Daggers play rather fast, perhaps even more like crust / punk than hardcore. And here, here we have a surprise. Speed is not the domain of DAGGERS. Quite on the contrary, they do not play extremely fast (but fast pace also appear), the Belgians focus on the impact and … what is interesting, they create a bit archaic and chaotic climate.

I can also admit that does not quite know how to struggle with Daggers. Because it is hardcore, sort of the aggressive one, kind of has the specified layers of aggression, but is this really enought to make them able to achieve worldwide success? I Do not think so. And indeed, hardcore governs their rights, so probably DAGGERS dont care about their phenomenal renown. Their record company claimes that they are sufficiently known in their motherland, I probably cannot disagree with them – but i dont predict them to change their status to even european wide known.

And musically? I do not think they have discovered anything new. The various riffs, rhythms, even though that they does not seem somehow significantly familiar to me, they are not making any positive impression. Daggers still is not the weak material, but to be honest it is nothing specific or. Well the whole production of the album may sound that it do not completely fit to the rest, and sure I will understand that if Daggers were post-hardcore band, but unfortunately they arent . Therefore, it is the low, strangely compressed sound, here just simply do not match.

Also, I dont like the voice of David. His singing manner is not completely suited together with the rest. It could also decide whether to sing or maybe rather to scream, or even try to growl. I suggest to work on voice, or on its clarity and then record vocal parts. Besides I have no major objections.

Unfortunately Daggers is only average. Sad…
