VERMIN started working in 2002 on the debris of Pascal and Ron’s shared project, which died in a natural way. The band quickly collected line up and started working upon some material, to be released, being under influence of such bigwigs as CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL or last years prodigy DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN. ‘A Nihilistic Swarm’ is their second full-length album. After the recording of it, Jeroen left the band, which has been performing as a four-piece.

This album can only offer some heavy riffs and hard music. The sound is tremendously fleshy and brings pleasure to the ears, almost all the time. Not to mention the fantastic drum fills, which simply stole this album from the rest of the performers. And that is all. The rest is just not bad. The compositions are not developed at all, it is just a model death performance, with constant repetitions, using only one worn out idea and without any variation. It is even hard to state from the listening, whether this is the same or another track. Thanks to this lack in variety and these short tracks, this album loses a lot. The primeval power sleeping in it is simply not enough.

VERMIN recorded a good death album, but without the concept – how to convince the listeners to their music. Creating a few powerful plays will not do. As for now, it gets just five, including one extra point for the magnificent drums.
