Cool songs: Burn, To Echo through Ages
The history of the Australian DELUGE is a short poem. Formed in 2004, some changes in line up, two full-length releases and finally splitting up. Unfortunately, because this band had a potential, something extremely interesting and were able to catch the attention of the listeners. Diluvial Sorcery was their farewell with the DELUGE project. (And remember not to confuse this band with another Australian DELUGE, not from Adelaide, but from Bunbury, playing not black metal, but thrash).
This album has got something magical in it. Such simple (at first sight) tunes can simply nail to the armchair. Pathetic preludes performed on keyboards are very interesting and mood building. The hoarse death growl sounds very convincing and resembles Dani Filth. The compositions are quite interesting with delicate progressive hints which enrich the whole and push it to the higher dimension, a kind of death/black progressive metal, sounding very catchy. This music was aimed at people who are familiar with the upper shelf of dark metal, people who appreciate the inconvenient tune. Many motifs shifts and changes in pace offer a wide spectrum of experience – from grind and black to progressive death a la DEATH. Plus those gothic and dooming preludes, building a fantastic atmosphere. Very interesting recipe for a record. Really worth listening, but it is a shame, that such band no longer exists.
I have not heard such an explosive dose and mixture of metal for a long time. DELUGE surprised me, and it has been a positive surprise. More such things, please. This authentic performance proves that style was something, that they definitely possessed.
