Both bands are still quite hidden and not so visible on the Polish metal scene. EFFECT MURDER, being the younger, has recorded two times more albums than three-years older BLOODPAINT, including one long play, which cannot be found in the artistic oeuvre of the latter one. What is more, BLOODPAINT seems to be inactive for some time, whereas their friends from this disc have been working quite hard to make their mark as a brutal death band. And they have been doing quite well.
This extreme split album represents two different approaches towards one of the most aggressive and energetic music genre. Thanks to this album, death metal gains another brutal dimension. The works by EFFECT MURDER are very stiff, hard but extremely powerful. They wake up the beast in the listener. On the other hand they tend to be quite straightforward, and I mean by that the copy – paste performance. Only Tsunami is a very good composition, with many motifs, changes in pace and developed rhythmical section. All in all, some melody appears there. BLOODPAINT shows a more mature approach towards the performance – their compositions are well prepared and played nicely, they simply kick ass. It is not just a simple brutal grinding death metal butchery, it is an energetic drink, refreshing the body, but sometimes also the grey sphere in the brains. Well thought out concepts, comprehensible melody lines, developed rhythmical sections and very high level of performance, contribute to the whole.
If call it a competition, BLOODPAINT definitely wins. They overtake the opponents by simple tricks and more mature play, symphony-like keyboard preludes to tracks or just more varied ideas for music. EFFECT MURDER work more like a Xerox machine. The final verdict is EFFECT MURDER-4:8-BLOODPAINT.
