It seems somehow this is my week of “Viking”. It's the second time for me to review a Viking album.

Tyr is a band from “The Faroes Islands”. It's actually my first time to give a listen to a band from The Faroes Islands, but I'm glad that they were the first anyway.

I was surprised for more than one reason. First, the place where this band hails from.

Second, the kind of music they play. We all got use to hear some kind of extreme metal whenever we mention “Viking”, you know, something like “Amon Amarth” (death metal) or even Enslaved (black metal), but here, our band is not like that. Heri (vocal/guitarist) got such an amazing and melodic clean voice. Pure and clean, no grunts or even growls.

And finally, and the most important, their own talents. They have such a great and blessed hand. From the drummer to the bassist and the guitarists.

But, there are 2 things I would like to give a hint about. One, most of their songs are long. I don't think this is such a good idea to play long songs if you really can't or don't have the grip on how to make it “not-boring”. Two. It's really not hard for you to get mixed up between the beginning of the album from it's end. Meaning, the songs look-alike. Hard to know – for example – the difference between track 1 and track 2, and from track3 and track 5.

But after all, they are good band, and I felt really happy when they had their chance to have a support act for Amon Amarth.
