Cool Tracks: The Conqueror Of My Heart, and Chernije Krilja (Black wings)
A beginning which is not most likely, but I have to start with it. Too bad this band is split up. Two bandmembers (Roman Ilyin & Felix Vigorov) organize a new band Arcanar in Ekaterinburg. And two other musicians (Yuri Ketov and Liudmila Emelyashina) are just planning to start a new project in St.Petersburg.
I know it is not really a good start, but I insist on starting with this to show how much I was sad when I knew about this.
This band was really great. We were all hoping and knowing, that if this band would have stayed, they would have achieved something….they were already achieving something.
Concerning this album, “Black Wings”, it is a fine example for doom and gothic, and some kind of beginners, they 'pretend' to be doom/gothic like many of today.
There was just one thing that was interrupting the mood, which is the “Russian language”. They made it very well in “The Conqueror Of My Heart” in English language, I have no idea why they insist to make all the album with Russian language.
The vocal's voice is deep and doomish, meaning, it suits his position. It is just can't help him when he sing brutal, so I think singing clean and deep, would be much better.
Of course the favorite 'mixiation' of the electric with the acoustic, make the whole atmosphere very suitable and ready for the mind to except what the band wants us to feel.
Arseny (keys) is doing a great job. I like the playing very much. Felix (bass) is the man here. He was so hard not to be noticed, although he was just playing the bass. And as usual, he was supporting the drummer very well.
Eventually, I got no words to describe my pleasant enjoyment for this album, and my sadness, for the splitting up.
