RAFFERTY RULES „Name Your God”

RAFFERTY RULES „Name Your God” - okładka

Rafferty Rules is a Hardcore/Thrash metal crossover act from Athens Greece with a 10-track CD. The band claims to have been influenced by California punk metal, but there is more than a fair share of thrash metal influences in the guitar and bass riffs and drumming technique. Meanwhile the vocals have slight punk/hardcore influences taking a page from Cryptic Slaughter (Metal Blade) SPEAK YOUR PEACE, but adding some harshness to the overall vocal lashing and some Biohazard influences. There is also a hint of Philip Anselmo (Pantera) inspired ‘Drag The Waters’ vocals at times. Overall, however, there is much more thrash than hardcore or punk, and Rafferty Rules lie on the metallic edge’s of their influences.

NAME YOUR GOD will mostly likely appeal to Pantera and Biohazard fans, the band is somewhat a mix of some of these basic styles. My major complaint, when the multimedia track was added to the disc, it was pretty silly to add the DATA track as number 1. To hear any music when you put this into your CD player you must skip over the first track and go to number two, stupid and a pain in the butt! My computer was automatically jumping over the data track to start playing the music, but in my portable CD player I had to skip over track one. I haven’t tried playing the CD in my home or car CD player yet. Other than one slight problem this is a solid underground CD from a band that has potential if they stick with it.
