Mercury rain are a five piece epic metal band that hail from the UK Featuring Sonia Porzier (vox), Dion Smith (guitar), Rich Shillitoe(guitar), Jon Hoare (bass & synths), and Andy Pester (drums).For a self financed first CD release this CD should turn some heads. The vocal work done by Sonia Porzier has a very haunting sound to it. She reminds me of the lead singer from the epic metal band NIGHTWISH in fact the whole band as a whole reminds me of NIGHTWISH except MERCURY RAIN seems to have a little more of an edge. This is very clean theatrical metal with a bite. This CD took a couple listens to really get into. Believe me if you are looking for a heavy power metal or a thrash CD this is not for you but if you are interested in broadening your horizons then this is a good listen. The production and mixing on this CD is very well done. The band will be performing at the Bloodstock Festival in August of this year and I do believe they will more then likely be winning over quite a few fans when they do. Those of you that like the epic style of metal that is played by bands such as RHAPSODY & NIGHTWISH but at a slower pace will like this CD. This band could easily write a movie soundtrack with an edge. Very interesting disc.
