ARCH ENEMY „Wages of Sin”

ARCH ENEMY „Wages of Sin” - okładka
Music: Melodic Death Metal
Duration: 11 songs (45 minutes)
Cool songs: 45 minutes of cool songs getting crammed into your ears.

Push the cd in the player, hear a short intro, that can be discribed as the moment before jumping of a mountain, and listen to the falling… This album has it all! Killing riffs (actually all the time), wonderful solo's, great atmospheric parts, more mysterious songs, but also more brutal and aggressive ones! Add to that: great aggressive vocals from a new (really good-looking) female vocalist, yes, you'll be amazed if you hear her, crushing most male vocalists in the genre.

Most of the time the band is melodic, but sometimes the demon within is unleashed, and anger rages on to the front in a raw killing! Guiter playing is among the best I have ever heard, brilliant riffing, beautiful solos, all aspects perfectly balanced out. Not two songs sound alike, I call an album like this LEGENDARY.

The German Angela Gossow is a perfect example of extreme limit and range vocals. She screams, growls (all very articulated) and varies her voice like she began practising when she was 2 years old.

The album is a bit more accessible than their previous releases, it is not brutal and aggressive all the time, but very varied instead. This does not mean the music became more commercial, the style seems to have evolved a little, resulting in a varied sort of metal, moving somewhere between In Flames and CoB.

I think I said enough, the album's quality reaches the sky, go find out the the rest for yourself. Buy/die!
