The history of CRAWLING DEATH is very short. In 2001(now a former member) Topór and present guitarist Tarki decided to form an extreme death metal group. Within seven years of their existence the line up changed a few times and the group released a split (together with THE ODOURS and RISING FETUS) titled The Odour of Crawling Fetus which represented a huge dose of brutal play. New Murder Art is their first solo album, released after the consolidation of the line up.
The album starts with massive riffs and extremely deep throat growl, crushing everything on their way. The first impression of the music is quite devastating – soulless rhythmic, dynamic fills, extreme feel and fascinating shifts in style and pace. The sounds and motifs change often forming an interesting and not only brutal death metal play. The sound is pretty old-school, it is a proposition and bow towards the fan(atic)s of the old death metal, without any redundant melodic fills and keyboard stuff. The material is pure concentrated hatred and aggression served in a bloody bowl. The ideas used by the musicians are maybe not so innovative, they do not create any new trends and will not change the world too. But they are enough to provide a huge amount of death and sick fun, straight from the pits of hell. That is right, because the blasphemies shouted by Maryj are of the highest value. The album is soaking wet with gore content and antichrist utterances. Therefore it will gain fans not only in the death team, but also black maniacs should find it quite amusing.
If you are looking for a really raw material, extremely rare and bloody, CRAWLING DEATH is definitely something you should try. You will not find there sublime sounds (although the solos are very good: dynamic, melodic and crafty), great and complicated melodic sections, fantastic rhythms and a compromise between the sound and the power. It is a bastard album committed by rabid musicians who have great fun by playing such music. It is a brutal death play with all its indicators, a bit hackneyed, sometimes even monotonous, although with a huge dose of almost vulgar energy and enthusiasm. And that makes it a good material.
