Cool songs: Pro Mod Action, ź Mile, Brain of the Engine
The band was formed in 2004 from the initiative of Lauri Kuriks, the champion of drag racing from Estonia. That is why the band describe their music as drag racing thrash, and their name derives from the gas called nitrous oxide, used in car racing for increasing engine power by injecting it into the intake manifold
and this is also the main theme of their songs. So
lets take a ride.
Three words – fast, noisy and dull. Yes, this release is a great dose of heavy and harsh play, the elements co-operate nicely: the instruments work as if they were in an orchestra, the technicalities are of high standard, although I had an impression that I have heard it before. And there is no doubt about it, because the music which they play, is a Slayeresque, so no further words of explanation, anyone would know what I mean by that. What is more, there are also some similarities with MACHINE HEAD. NITROUS use two same riffs, are repeating them constantly in each song. Pro Mod Action is a relief – mature sound, quite a monotonous track, but much more developed than the rest. Which is nice, but still light years from being innovative.
It is impossible to build an album upon a few better tracks, it is obvious that they will push the weaker content. But the problem arises when that poorer content dominates the music and than this trick does not work properly, it goes in the other direction, the crap eats the coolest part, and that is what happened here.
