1998… Marcin receives a phone call and… Kaśka joins the band. And that was the beginning of VIA MISTICA, a doom/gothic project from Poland. From the very beginning the band experienced many changes in the line up, and there were moments, when the musicians thought, that this was the end. But fortunately enough, they managed to overcome the frustrating times and put the line up together.

The beginning of their second full-length album is trying to be very mysterious and mystical, although that silly male voice simply destroys that atmosphere. But later on it is dark, dooming and very mysterious. What can annoy (perhaps) is the strange manner of choosing the material for the album: one song is strong and powerful, the other slow and dull, another strong, the next boring… and this goes on. The compositions are of the same high quality and everything sounds very, very good. It is audible that the musicians are experienced. The mood which is dominating is rather pessimistic and does not change even for a moment. At least one slight change would be a relief.

VIA MISTICA is a good example of what doom metal should sound like. The album is prepared very nicely and the songs sound quite interesting. The guitars are working very hard not to mention the drummer. Kaśka’s voice is also the best possible one for the job. In other words, good job.
