Cool songs: Never Again, Screaming Out
REALITY GREY is a heavy death band from Italy, which recently released their first full-length album Darkest Days Are Yet To Come, under Razar Ice Records. The bands history started in 2000 in Bari. After a slight change in line up (Vlady took the place of Donato behind the drums) the band recorded some demo stuff and started working upon their newest material.
Say what you want, but those guys have guts and know how to play fantastic death metal. From the very beginning the listener is being bombarded by high quality death melt accompanied by hoarse vocal. Solos are very sublime and developed, they involve every musician till the end. Later on it is just the same: no downfalls (a relief) but also no uprisings (not so good). The linear level of the music quality shows, that the musicians did not develop in an appropriate direction, that they are still in the same place. The music is mixed perfectly, the drums fills are fantastic and everywhere they should be. Fantastic intro to Never Again brings some good memories concentrated on CHILDREN OF BODOM, but later on there is no doubt, that REALITY GREY are the masters of this album. They have got their own style clutch to it tightly. The album is very varied, one may find there elements of grind, pagan, melodic and even power metal elements, which enrich the compositions, but none of those is superior to others. They are all of the same level, same quality, there is no variation in emotional receiving.
REALITY GREY created an interesting position, for listening and smashing heads, especially during gigs. Although without any extraordinary imagination, which lowers the quality and value. But as for their first full-length production: well done.
