LOWEMOTOR CORPORATION is a Finnish band formed in this century. Their discography counts three full length albums. Saturnalia released in March of 2004 brought some hopes when I looked at the back cover of this album. Saturnalia
a cool lesson of history, accompanied by heavy music. Sounds nice
and after listening to few first songs this hope lays in debris. LOWEMOTOR CORPORATION can be best described as a goth heavy rock cousin of BRITNEY SPEARS. Songs have bent for sexual content and sometimes even fetish. Everything sprinkled with the motive of love sickness which sometimes can really make sick. It is all sung by a strong feminine voice of Claudia Carnal. The whole is very emotional, the melodic line stays in memory for some time and it really does not want to get out of it (especially Flyin G). the music is of highest technical quality, the musicians prove, that they know what they are doing. Although that too strong bass guitar, bass solos beginning almost every song, are too much. Primo: they make everything very monotonous after a while. Secondo: they fix the style of the compositions, thanks to which they are becoming predictable and bore the potential fan. And believe me: after the first four tracks it really gets on the nerve. What is interesting about the album, is the very vivid melodic line. Everything is dynamic and full of life. The changes in pace are slight but there are some, and that is working pretty well. The guitar riffs are hard, characteristic, sometimes accompanied by guitar solos (especially the second part of Lowest Of The Low very good instrumental part, showing the craft of the musicians).
This could have been a better album. It is not my cup of coffee, but predictability and boredom can spoil everything. This will remain only a pop-ier and heavier version of Hard Rock, with some erotic content lyrics. If someone likes such experiments, that is O.K. But what if does not ?
