It all starts out with synthesizer sounds and a bass line that could be taken from Faith No More. The vocals sound a little like Mike Patton actually. When the guitars come in they are interesting and the sound is not too heavy but rocks anyway. Interesting song structure I would say, very atmospheric. Sounds a little like progressive rock too.
First impressions last they say. In this case it's true because the guys have chosen to continue in the same manner. The guitar work sounds like a mixture of Cynic (the laid back parts) and Crimeny (the heavier groove guitars)… Some hardcore/ growling vocals are included on this 4 track release. The most interesting thing is that these guys are from Hungary but the guy sings in perfect English. Check out their very professional web site www.varso.net . The guys released their earliest material in 1999… I guess I'll just have to check it out.
This is great and original music – not as catchy as FNM but equally interesting. As the band states their music in no way is trendy and I have to agree. Their music is definitely closer to nu-metal than heavy metal though. I guess that even fans of such bands as Earth Crisis and Tool would find this MCD exiting.
