DISSECTION „Storm of the Light Bane” - okładka

What can i say about this album. Maybe the perfect mix between aggresion and melody! It is an excellent combination of death metal and black, but not the typical black death metal band of today. Its like a mix of heavy metal, goteburg sound and emperor pre anthems.

When this album comes to light in 1995, the magazines claim to labeled them “a melodic death metal band”. Maybe look as a good label, but if you lurk into the past, you can find that the main composer, genius, evil, guitarrist and vocalist Jon Nodtveidt have more in common with Black metal than with Death metal. Jon was part of the infamous inner circle of norway (despite he is from sweden). He is still in jail because the murder of a gay (thats what people say =) ) But whatever, focusing in music, this album is a real work of art. Beautiful twin guitars (and even triple), blast beats and complex arrangements in all the instruments. Many melody but without losing the agressiveness. In songs like “Unhallowed”, “Thorns of crimson death” and the well known by -Metal freaks- “Where dead angels lie”, you can listen beatiful acoustic parts. In “Where dead angels lie”, we can listen a Dissection more calmed and melancolic, with a lot of feeling. About the lyrical stuff, satanic lyrics without fall in the ridicolous (i think). A lot of satanic imagery falling in a bit of mysantropy.

I can describe all the songs, but i think is enough with this. Recommendation: this one has to stay in your collection (if you are a real headbanger, of course) .
