Byatis is a death metal ensemble from France. They incorporate alot of prog rock in the guitar playing. As I am not a huge fan of prog rock, it is easy for me to knock them for that. But when you get past the guitar solos, and high riffs, this album really does beat your ass. Blast beat bass drums, low end thumping bass guitar. And the vox are excellent, pure screaming death metal growl. At one point in track 8 (Wornes III: Skuld) I thought that they actually did a slow song, but I was wrong! It just made the rest of the song that much better, full on ass kicking that you thought had finally died. This is the second recording Byatis has, and in each session they strive to improve, and with this said… I will anticipate the next album!
