The band dEMOTIONAL was created in 2009. Earlier, they released two full-length albums, “State: In Denial” in 2013 and “Tarrasis” in 2015. They performed extensively in Scandinavia and Europe (among others with ARCH ENEMY and ENTOMBED). They also made a tour of Russia as headliner. It is characteristic that the members of the band are not afraid of the suit, because they present themselves in fashionable, stylish clothes on the stage and beyond.

The content of “Discovery” has a kick of Metal, but there is melody, it is not extreme. I associate such music with the American CCM (Contemporary Christian Metal) scene. In dEMOTIONAL are two vocalists (in the song “Monster” is featuring Jenny Fagerstrandh), the firstone is pure with calm expression, the secondone is with throat, strong, with commitment. The compositions contain keys and electronics, but this music is primarily with guitars, and the synthetic sounds are just an addition. The guitarists, bassist, and drummer know their line of work very well, but none of them is superior to the rest of the members.

The songs are short, but a lot of them are happening: the speed is dominant, but there are the intertwined calm parts, interesting guitar solos, the both vocalists work well together, the keyboardist and drummer also have their moments, the rhythms and melodies often are change. All elements harmoniously combine into a cohesive whole. The music on the disc is gradually uncoil, and this music hoists the listener more and more.

“Discovery” has dramaturgy, but the message from the disc is not dark, negative. It’s not climate of Black / Death Metal or primitive Black Metal. Such style isn’t for everyone. But looking without prejudice, the Swedish sextet made their work professionally and with heart, what he intended. In such style “Discovery” is a successful album.
