Australian DEMONHEAD come from Melbourne. The band exists 12 years and has 2 albums. “Black Devil Lies” is the last one until today…
The album sounds good. It presents a more melodic and balanced approach to Thrash Metal genre, of course constantly maintaining dynamic, strong and heavy riffs and hits. A large amount of melodic solos significantly embellishes the whole, which oscillates between technical heavy-thrash arrangements. Local use of clean guitar passages increases the mood of the music.
Vocally it is quite diverse, sometimes it’s very heavily and noisily, sometimes ominously, and the clean songs create a melancholic or balladic tone. A characteristic feature (for the band, as well as for this genre of Metal) are backing vocals (emphatically accentuating some phrases) and catchy vocal melodies.
Dark anger… Controlled aggression… Subdued melancholy… These are emotions accompanying to the music.
Some topics can be associated with METALLICA, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT or PANTERA and ANNIHILATOR… But also (less often) similarities go to IRON MAIDEN or JUDAS PRIEST. So as you can see (hear), the band’s assumption is to play rhythmically and hard and melodiously, where fast and rhythmic parts harmonize with melody of guitar and vocal.
The musicians, technically fulfilled themselves perfectly. “Black Devil Lies” is material correctly arranged and played with the correct (very good) sound. The whole sounds professional. Nothing more nothing less. The perfect album for lovers of the classic melodic Heavy-Thrash Metal.
