Long time ago I listen some band from Australia
But here is GRAVE FORSAKEN which was sent by Australian label Soundmass. The last Australian band which I was delighted many years ago was MORTIFICATION and maybe therefore some patents of GRAVE FORSAKEN have associated me with this band. Although “Fight To The Death” presents Thrash Metal but however I feel small influences of Death Metal (mainly in structure of riffs). Moreover Thrash Metal in realization of GRAVE FORSAKEN is marked by influences of Bay Area region (it is audible in strong backing singers among others). Besides these innovations, “Fight To The Death” possesses one more very characteristic feature yet. And namely the frequent passages of drums (with characteristic sound) reminding very early accomplishments of SEPULTURA. But this is not the end of varieties
Next associations went to EXODUS and MEGADETH
And so GRAVE FORSAKEN includes very predatory riffs, predatory vocal, sharp solos and solid work of the drums which create the basis of arrangement. More melodious tacts, even in style of Heavy Metal and even some melancholy keys and feminine vocal (in the balladic phrases of “Call Me A Dreamer”) as well as climatic calmer guitar phrases sometimes appear between these very dynamic and sharp motives.
Generally the whole drives on sharply with short decelerations of pace. Unfortunately it possesses too dirty sound. I do not know – is it intentional effect? Anyway GRAVE FORSAKEN kicks in the ass pretty well, until a head wants to do headbanging Now I'm glad I have long hair yet, hahaha
