Cool songs: The Changeling, Eye of the Storm

Formed in 1993 and reborn in 2004, after the release of ‘Six Track Metal Attack’, with a classic heavy metal sound. HJALLARHORN has been releasing only demos, but from one album to another, it is getting more and more obvious, that they should record a full-length album. As soon as possible.

‘N.W.O.C.H.M.’ is definitely one of more interesting heavy plays of the recent days. Although it is not as new as we would like this album to be. The music is very varied – style and metal motifs go crazy, the devil himself is probably jumping in hell to the rhythms of this music. The compositions are heavy, with a proper amount of power, and quite powerful – the force attacks from the beginning with the classic heavy metal riff, supported by cool rhythm guitar. Later on, the acoustic elements change the character of the song. ‘Eye of the Storm’ is a fantastic track, an obligatory position on every heavy metal-shelf: starts as a poetic ballad and develops into a heavy’n’powerful kicker. This album rocks, although it is not so new, I would even say, that it is classical, maybe a bit harder and rawer than a classic heavy metal, but still fits into this convention.

HJALLARHORN recorded a good and interesting album, containing a material suggesting some old-school influences, like PRAYING MANTIS or GRIM REAPER. This heavy metal is classic, but the wave is not so new… it is at least 30 years old.
