Cool songs: Funerary Preamble, Crook and Flail

The band was formed in 1999 and doing some strange stuff, everything apart recording a full-length album, which should be a must in such case. After a few years of recording a demo, split and EP, they decided to release a… the best of compilation. Fantastic!

I do not like album where within the first few sounds nothing actually happens. For over one minute… a scandal. This album turns on very long, and when the indicator reaches the highest and strongest point, you are already asleep or in the kitchen, preparing yourself a cup of coffee, in order not to fall asleep. The music sounds like taken out from the last decade (and actually it was) or even two (sometimes resembles BLACK SABBATH, sometimes PINK FLOYD), the dark-heart-ripping climate is a real killer. The psychedelic tone is present throughout the whole album and does not leave even for a moment. Sometimes the whole situation resembles the trembling of a sick mind and heart. The technicalities are good: everything mixed, performed and mastered nicely. And that cool dooming atmosphere.

Apart from all those things, the album is only average: it lacks some power, is very slow and needs a real kick, which would push it higher. Thus only five and a half.

note: 5.5/10
