Maelstrom is a 7 split with BLASPHERIAN. This album shows how much a few years experience will improve a bands musicianship and studio experience. I dont have the actual record with BLASPHERIAN; instead, I have ADUMUS one song promo disc. The sound quality is exponentially better than the demo. The group tuned up their guitars and played higher strings compared to the demo.
The sole track Maelstrom is bereft of keys, although the guitars, like EMPEROR, contain much atmosphere in and of themselves. The battle theme is also improved upon with conquering guitars and drums, further building on the battle lust theme. The fantasy image-laden lyrics tell of the rebirth of an ancient demon or spirit. These lyrics are printed on a two-sided lyric sheet, like most 7 split vinyl. I dont have the actual record, but I do have the packaging, which is looks great. If you own a record player and listen to IMMORTAL and EMPEROR, you should enjoy this release.
