DARKSEED belong to the established persons of the German gothic metal scene. With their so far albums the sextett again and again showed us that this genre can be creative and that there is the possibility to trade marks. With the latest opus „Ultimate Darkness“, DARKSEED have again released a really strong piece of energetic dark, metallic sounds, which is a symbiosis of hard riffs, efficient electronic sounds as well as the teamwork of changing dark melodic and aggressive vocals for a directly reaching atmosphere and electric prickling. Twelve new songs in an explosive-intensive tension between metal and gothic, DARKSEED composed “Ultimate Darkness” and had a special look at great arrangements. This shows the different opener called „Disbeliever“ with its energetic beat! In the beginning: This is one of my favourite songs! The barking vocals and the aggressive modus of the opener can simply beat yourself in the face! “My burden” with the German-English vocals changes into a kind of second part to “Disbeliever”. THIS song will stay in your ears! Guaranteed! On „Ultimate Darkness“ they celebrate a huge heavyness! And that is awesome! And this heavyness you can hear from the first two tracks to the title track. „Biting cold“ in the opposite offers a bit of taking turns and lets us calm down a bit. DARKSEED are good in doing that with graceful vocallines and again with a few German sentences, as well as „The dark one“. With this song DARKSEED have speed again!! The vocals are especially brutal! „Save me“ reminds me much on Trail of Tears.

DARKSEED work a lot with electronics. But they never overdo anything. That is why the synthis harmonise with “Speak silence”, “Next to nothing” and “Follow me” as well as with the rest of the songs. With „The fall“ DARKSEED play a song which is the title track to the computer game of SilverStyle Entertainment. „Endless night“ – again a track with great melodies and a great guitar solo! The clean vocals exchange with the aggressive growls of Stefan Hertrich. An awesome combination sometimes reminding me on The 69 Eyes! The sometimes depressed songs of DARKSEED come to the highest top in „Sleep sleep sweetheart“ and invite you to listen again to „Ultimate darkness“! Best would be to press the „repeat“ button and you cannot be false! You can´t get too much of that CD! So many things on it where you can bang your head. Nothing is boring! Now I can just wait to see DARKSEED live on tour!! That is an obligation!! And then please play only stuff from this record 😉 „Ultimate darkness“ = AWESOME!
