DICK DELICIOUS AND THE TASTY TESTICLES „We Sold Our Souls For Wet Sloppy Holes”

Judging by the childish band name and the ugly CD cover I thought this would be some kind of Blink 182 sing-along pop-punkrock with stupid lyrics… I wasn't entirely wrong about the lyrics ; ) but the music these now-and-then masked American (or is it Canadian… their CD was printed in Canada) nuts play is in a heavier league than that.

What we're dealing with is heavy somewhat rap-influenced hardcore in the vein of Madball, Biohazard and Pro-Pain. The music is actually very good and diverse. The production sounds like Biohazard “Urban Discipline” era and the vocals are mainly as heavy as Madball's. The songs are pretty catchy though mainly not melodic at all. Besides the bands mentioned above you hear a little of the following influences: Slayer, Dog Eat Dog, Beastie Boys (their hardcore and rock anthems), Misfits and Megadeth.

The stupid/ fun approach gets even more intensified when you hear the two mock-country songs that are included. There is even a little parody in the form of a Metallica-like song called “Diarrhea” (sounds like “Harvester of Sorrow”) that contains the trademark Metallica-acoustic-passage.

The lyrics are either awful or extremely funny… depends on your kind of humor. To be honest I don't find topics such as penises, pussy, doing drugs, being a criminal… that amusing. When they make fun of people that are mentally challenged (“Mongoloids”) it gets a little too much… Then the guys also support hardcore porn and have made an appearance on Howard Stern and received the first ever Howard Stern Award for excellence in music. If you want a heavy striptease show you get it besides the music when the guys bring along strippers on shows (or is it only backstage?… the footage didn't tell explicitly).

Due to the musical qualities I have to give no less than:

9 out of 10 points
