BERZERKER, THE „Dissimulate”

This is the second album by the Australian band The Berzerker and it follows on perfectly from where their first self-titled album left off. The first improvement from the old album is the removal of the annoying noise tracks that were present at teh end of the first album. Dissimulate is focused directly on songs including an excellent cover of Carcass' Corporeal Jigsaw Quandry. Be prepared for extremely fast and brutal industrial-techno-death-grind. This is definitely an original and fresh sound that borrows elements from other styles to create some of the most insane and bezerk music on the planet. The Bezerker was definitely a good choice for a name. A few rumours have been floating around on the net about this band that I would like to put to rest. Firstly they are not a supergroup. I have seen them without their masks and they are not a supergroup, plus they are Australian which is a country that features some of the best metal bands in the world but is largely ignored !
by the rest of the world. Secondly they do not use a drum machine. They did on the first cd but they have a drummer now. The drumming on dissimulate is real. The drummer has his kit hooked up on triggers to give the techno drum sound. He is going to be in the guiness book of records for drum speed. He is fast. Rewind the cd from the start to hear an instrumental non triggered song and find out for yourself. Thirdly the image thing, they sound nothing like slipknot so whether they wear masks or not makes no difference. It is like comparing Incubus to Napalm Death. Anyway Dissimulate is an exciting and brutal album which may not be to everyones taste but should be applauded for its originality and sheer brutality.
