Music: Funk Metal / Nu Metal / Alternative Metal
Duration: 60:00 minutes (11 tracks)
TAVISTOCK is the next band in the catalog of the Spanish label Art Gates Records. The band comes from Valencia from Spain and they describe their music as “Fresh Funked Metal”, combining heavy metal elements with feeling and freshness of Funk. Thanks to the music, the band expresses their vision of a modern, corrupt and mendacious society, and expresses the need to rebel and demand a dignified life…
… Whereas musically… the low-tuned guitars, various guitar rhythms in Djent style, crushing guitar patents are intertwined with accenting squeaks of guitars, solos, and even Blues parts and clean motives… Even also I was listening swigging Jazz in one song… In addition, we will hear climatic moments – the spatial elements of Post Metal and at some point – the musical acoustic-guitar interlude.
An important and characteristic feature of the compositions is often exposed play of clanging bass on the front of music (clearly giving the attribute of Funk Metal). This feature could be associate with, for example, PRIMUS and the like. These bold bass parts synchronized with the progressive rhythms of the drums create a very lively and energetic mood.
The Vocal is also quite rich… The range of vocal’s colors is widely developed – from melancholy, calm singing through loud vocal tone until screams and brutal growls. The last one could crush, especialy in combination with aggressive guitar parts, creating Extreme Metal. However also there are melodious vocals that I associated with BREED 77 – the band from Gibraltar.
At the end, the band proposed (as for dessert) the acoustic versions of two tracks, which showed them in a completely different aspect – a bit folk, a bit lyrical, also a bit crazy.
The whole creates a colorful mosaic containing alternately heavy and aggressively exposed elements with complex rhythm along with calm, atmospheric themes. If someone likes when something happens then music of TAVISTOCK is for these people.
