I present the Danish musical trio called BLACK BOOK LODGE and their second album “Entering another measure”. And of course I am compelled to mention that the album is framed in a digipack with a very interesting cover-art… From one side is the dark hallway and from the other side are the winding stairs. In both cases the images make couriosity – where they lead. Perhaps the cover-art is a reference to the music of the band. When I was listening to the songs then I was wondered about the comparisons and where the music will lead me as well as did I listen something like that. It is difficult to me to do comparison of such playing for something or someone. The musicians say about themselves that they are inspired by KING CRIMSON. The authors know themselves best…

I guess they play Progressive Rock with influences of psychedelic Grunge, with slightly distorted vocals and bass what giving heaviness to the music. The instrumental tracks make sizable part of complex songs. This odd combination of phrases sung with instrumental music builds dark climate and at the same time it creates a mysterious and pervasive aura around the tracks. The vocals usually are distorted but and they are smooth or sometimes they cause thrill of emotions. When I listen the longer then I am convinced that their music adequately refers to the cover-art. The music is like the hallway or the stairs – the music is mysterious, frightening and equally curious and interesting.

Maybe some people like me don’t understand until the end of their musical expression. However, I believe that it is worth “go on through a musical hallway or stairs” with the creators of the album to try to feel what they felt by creating their work.
