This time the Canadian label Unicorn Digital released the debut solo album of Iranian Agah Bahari. I think, that this album will be good for fans of GORDIAN KNOT and PLANET X. Why? Firstly the persons with great last names, which were co-creators of progressive-musical world (Derek Sherinian, Virgil Donati, Ric Ferabracci i Rufus Philpot) took part in recording of this material. Secondly… This album is masterly coil of Progressive Rock/Metal instrumental compositions.
The music of “The Second Sight of a Mind” is very complex instrumental in own arrangements and there aren't any vocals. But this is typical for such projects. I suppose that the great art is that to present some conception by help of alone instrumental sounds and without vocal narrations. The masterly skills as well as the emotional sensibility are indispensable to create such type of work. This causes that every sound transforms in the “strange-words” full of emotions. In result the music comes into being without verbal message, which announces own record and the emotionality by help of the sounds in very technical mode.
From technical side the music of AGAH BAHARI is very variable stylistic and dynamically as well as has many motifs. The compositions are full of many interlacing solos phrases, which create melodies, accents and themes. I can say that it is a conversation among individual instruments, where the every instrument has something important to show. The conversation is replete of dynamicity, energy and interaction.
However this music isn't devoid of soul… there is outright contrary.. The music is very mature and intelligent emotionally. Here is the many controlled aggression and spontaneity, which blends in deep melancholy and the musing. Generally, despite that the arrangements are very complex they create very massive, unconstrained and spatial music. Co-produced by Derek Sherinian.
