Why, that’s a pretty nice cover Rammstein have gracing this new album of theirs. Equal parts bizzare and macabre, it shows the band on the verge of butchering a maiden’s body, with Mr. Creepy himself, singer Till Lindemann, about to cleave her arm. It just screams ‘Take that, gruesome death metal!’ True to the reliable and super efficient standards of them lovable Germans, Rammstein deliver the fireworks on this tongue twisting “Liebe Ist Fuer Alle Da.” With their exclusive use of Deutsch long established as part of the Rammstein sound (English is only useful as comic relief to these Krauts, i.e. “Pussy”), the sextet proceed to weave epic chunks of infectious heavy metal that’s oft imitated but never equaled throughout the European metal scene. Much less among their ‘industrial’ peers—Handsel und Gretel, Deathstars, etc.

Reader, if you’re in no mood for a praiseful review at the moment, then go ahead and read what the other writers have to offer. HailnKill hears nothing wrong thoughout “Liebe Ist Fuer Alle Da,” not even the idiotic “Pussy” ranks as sub par despite its Euro-pop synths and inane lyrics. Ever dark and majestic, Rammstein open with an epic stomper titled “Rammlied” and from here on in it’s just heavy, heavy, heavy…melodic too. To maintain the facade of being a full fledged industrial band, keyboards and synths still abound, even the odd bits of orchestration—“Ich Tu Dir Weh,” “Rammlied”—but these are almost superficial once overwhelmed by the powerful guitars and percussion that really drive the songs here.

Yet the usual Rammstein fare does have its prettier moments, for this album it’s the wonderful mid tempo ditty “Fruhling In Paris” that carries all the melancholy and despair of heartbreak. Then there’s the soothing album closer that begins with harmless whistling then proceeds to wallow in the softer stuff, thereby finishing the album on a wistful, pleasant note. It’s a perfect touch, considering it arrives after the most brutal offerings here such as “Mehr” and the title track “Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da.” Since Rammstein’s latest is endless gratification divided among 11 songs, there is indeed much love for everyone this year.
