Frenchmen are not worser than rest of the world and their own metalcore they have. And it does not matter if it is known everywhere power of metalcore music such as L'ESPRIT DU CLAN or just the beginning, but still promising alot guys from SONS OF SENOKA or DECADES OF DESPAIR. Each one of them, no matter if they play more or less in the metalcore, melodic death metal or deathcore way, still present a very high level of skill. To the French top of this music genre joins another nice group – BLESSING SINS. The band, consisting of five members uses both the stylistics – metalcore and deathcore – which gives a satysfying result indeed.

Symphonic intro, being a part of opening Mirror of the silent mind for a moment prepares us for really intense metalcore/deathcore kick. Fast tempo, characteristic drum beat (bass, drum) make a song pick up the speed. Of course there is no lack of drum blasts, but to be honest, it is better for the guys from BLESSING SINS to treat them as an addition, as a thing which makes everything more complete. First song passes quickly, making us hungry for more, and “more” in the case of Frenchmen means also better. Lots of crazy passages, merciless vocals, and solid, totally satisfying dose of swedish melodies are present in every song on EP.

Let us go further. Song number 2, which is also a title one, stuns a listener with drummer’s fierce way of playing. Marvelous accelerated bass, powerful (does not matter it is typical) breakdown is like a shot from a large caliber gun. Blasts appear again, but they are not the leading part. Lucky for us Kam plays technically so he can satisfy everyone who is hungry for rhythmical impressions. Title song surprises with something else. What I mean is very shapely solo played with awesome swedish drive. I have no idea which one of the guitarists did it, but it sounds really cool and the only thing that saddens me is that it is so short. By the way the great plus of this record is the quality along with quantity of guitar solos. From what I hear, the guys have the capabilities and surely know how to use them. It is not a DRAGONFORCE nor CHILDREN OF BODOM but solos on Between night and dawn are really good.

Let us go on. Now about the cons of the album. The vocals seem to be a little stereotypical. I know that it is cool, brutal and low but they are lacking bigger differentation, something that could somehow refresh the genre. Am I expecting something above their capabilities? Not really, but frankly speaking something should be done in this matter. Seba does not scream bad, it is even quite opposite but anyway it fits the convention quite well. To sum up, for their “debut” album (earlier they released a demo) BLESSING SINS material is doing really fine. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward for the second LP.
