The music for debut album of CHABTAN reportedly was inspired by bands from the circle Melodic Death Metal like IN FLAMES or ARCH ENEMY. And the themes discussed in the texts are stories of Mesoamerican mythology. Sounds interesting…

Indeed, the compositions contain features of Melodic Death Metal. The music sounds heavy, minacious and predatory and at the same time is melodic and climatic. Although some elements go beyond the scope of this genre. Sometimes the produced climate rather is similar to Deathcore. The songs are very varied and multi-threaded. Their rhythm is variable, sometimes complicated and very technical. But the fast and very fast paces prevail between the melodic decelerations and the climatic introductions in style of preludes. The rapid percussive rhythms together with the climatic solos of the guitars create the interesting combinations.

CHABTAN interestingly combined the aggression and the brutality with the melody and the melancholy, and the whole was merged by the darkness and the mystery with the dose of mysticism. From the one hand we have the powerful growlings and the strong screams on the background of the dense, sharp and heavy guitar riffs and the intricate percussion parties, and from the other hand we will listen to the clean singings, the recitation, the spatial solos of the guitars and the progressive insertions. Despite such dense saturation of the music by these all themes then the album is coherent.

I wonder, as the reviewer, which stubbornly tries to qualify each music in the frame… At present, there are so many genres and subgenres of Metal music. I wonder… Is the album “The Kiss Of Coatlicue” Extreme Metal? All in all, the music of CHABTAN is extreme.
