W sumie w zachodniej Europie, a szczególnie w Wielkiej Brytanii znajduje się kolebka tej ciężkiej odmiany doom metalu, którego reprezentantami były lub są kapele typu MY DYING BRIDE, PARADISE LOST, CATHEDRAL, dawna ANATHEMA, etc..
