I have the impression that Sludge Metal and Stoner Metal / Rock have been experiencing renaissance for few years, but even if I am wrong, then undeniably this genre of music has now big success. And the evidences are the emergences of new bands and numerous concerts with such bands.

Danish DIRT FORGE after about four years of existence released his full-lenght album, after a few minor releases. The men undeniably are inspired by Doom Metal and bands such as BLACK SABBATH, CROWBAR and HIGH ON FIRE. And of course this is audible in their compositions.

The music from “Soothsayer” is rolling and rocking to forward… a little slowly, harshly and hard, but at the same time dynamically and vigourly, with a dirty and predatory guitar sound and a hoarse singing-intonating vocalist. The songs have a specific melody and in places they accelerate rapidly, and at that time they give for the listener a great power. Sometimes the simplicity of some phrases resemble Hardcore / Punk.

The arrangements also include the dark-melancholic moments built by the passages and chords of pure guitars and the calm drum beats. It sounds a bit hypnotic and soothing.

The vocals are rather in style of Stoner Metal, in turn the music is more in style of Sludge Metal. In general this is interesting material of course if someone likes such gloomy and pessimistic climate. And to stir up in your minds, I will add that sometimes some phrases reminded me accomplishments of HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST. And what do you say?
