ALEPH - "In Tenegra"

Band: Aleph
Origin: Italy
Music: Metal
Tracks: 5 tracks

Italy is ‘now’ one of the top countries in the metal scene. Aleph is an Italian band. I can’t really say “Metal”, because I don’t know really what kind of metal they play. It’s not that I’m an ignorant but coz this band is a bit dizzy in their own music.

Listening to this album, I found it hard to understand few things. First, what kind of music they play? You will find on their own website they are saying “Heavy Metal”, checking their own myspace page they are saying thery are “Thrash Metal”, and listening to their music, it has nothing to do with whether Thrash or even Heavy. There are growls, screams and grunts, may be you will think it’s Black or death…something that gives you the impression that you don’t know what music is this.

Second, the existence of the “keyboardist”. That man is really good keyboardist, but I don’t know what is he doing other than struggling to find himself a space to play. And all that goes back to the music they play.

I heard it’s pretty bad to classify yourself or your band in only one genre. Well….I believe this band was trying to follow this saying, but too bad they got drifted…very drifted. They didn’t follow one classification that I guess they have missed the knowing of their music.

I liked the keyboardist and the drummer. The vocal’s ‘too much’ growling has disturbed the listening to the 2 guitarists. But ‘as far as I remembered’…they were ok.
