Traditional Heavy Metal is something we hold close to our heart. The time when Sabbath’s debut record was released, the entire music industry saw a shift in the way Rock was interpreted. So, integrating such OG stuff into your music would change the way people perceive old school music. Bands these days stray away from the formulaic new wave sound and head back to the good old days of originality. The League of One is one among the few I found this year, who keep a tinge of OG sound.

Their 2018 effort, Dispatch promises quality music. The 10 track effort is written keeping the godfathers of Rock/Metal-Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Rush as the main influences. The tracks are well laid out and right off the bat, this is some of the great riffs I have heard this year. Songs have this Hard rock presence with a constant breaks and doomy parts to facilitate the vocals to be laid in such a way that it doesn’t sink instead stands brim when mixed with the instrumentation. The solos are solid and I, personally would like to hear more drum solos. The vocals are not as high-pitched like your average Glam rock band, the deliverance is almost same as the OG Heavy Metal bands. The pitched vocals always make the solo parts a delight as the high octane solo compliments the high pitched vocals.

Many might find their music hard to digest since it is just different from the new wave bands. In fact, that is why I think they stand out among the rest. Honestly, Dispatch may not be as good as their last album Kill(which is probably their best record), Dispatch is still solid enough to fill your daily playlist. There is nothing much to expect on this record compared to Kill yet, Dispatch on its own is pretty neat and I hope to see the prodigal trio to make more music inspired by the OG heavyweights.
