This review is about French OBSESSION. In the world there are several other metal bands with the same name. Band was created in the village of Lons le Saunier. Initially they played only covers METALLICA, MEGADETH, JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH and the like. During this time the line-up has changed many times, until it was established in 2015, with choose their style as old-school thrash metal. The French have already over 100 concerts, they are more and more noticed on the national metal scene.

“Century of Decadence” is the debut album of frog-eaters. On the album in most of the songs are interwoven styles of thrash and heavy in an interesting way. The music is sharp, dynamic, with fire, often catchy. There are also calmer, balladic and mood moments.

The song “Order of the Temple” is different, it is massive, dark – but it has nothing to do with doom-metal or Black Sabbath. It is played in style of thrash / heavy, but only with slower speeds, with a heavy rhuthmic section and melancholy guitars. Its beginning and end contain great, crushing parts of the bass.

Some tracks are dominated by thrash. I mean “Social Disorder”, “Absolute War” and “Homeless Children”. “Chaos Division” is the perfect song for the concert – feisty, full of verve, thrilling heavy / thrash… The audience gonna mad :). The songs are varied, each of them have own individual character and something is happening all the time. Well, every track is embellished with a great guitar solo.

OBSESSION’s music is not virtuosic, but it is played very well, in a manner suited to the style that the band chose. The members of this band know what they want and consistently do it. They are well-coordinated and each of them adds a brick to the final effect. The album has power and should satisfy every fan of traditional thrash and heavy. Personally I liked the album.
