Although OCTOBER TIDE origins date back to 1994 years but the only member of the band, which is from the beginning, is Fredrik “North” Norrman (former, longtime guitarist of KATATONIA). Other musicians play with the band from recently, and at most from four years.

“Wigned Waltz” is the fifth album of the band and it is the next material proposed by the Polish label Agonia Records. After reviewing of IN MOURNING (also Agonia Records), the music of “Wigned Waltz” did not dissappoint me, and probably because it fit to my musical tastes…

It is the very heavy, crushing playing with the monstrous growls in slow paces with the climatic guitar melodies. Such music is an excellent diet for my soul… like old ANATHEMA, MY DYING BRIDE and PARADISE LOST…

I like when OCTOBER TIDE weaves into their music the elements of Black Metal (in the form of emphasizing screams). The dark melancholy and gloomy despair combined with the predatory aggressiveness make that you wanna to die by this music (in the positive sense of the phrase). And all pessimistic emotions, which arise during the listening to the album make the continued existence on this world ceases to have absolute sense.

But this music, paradoxically, has something beautiful – not only the beautiful guitar solos or the delicate passages. But it is also beautiful how this music is able to steer the emotions.
