News from APHYXION

Metal Hammer editor Dom Lawson spoke out loud and clear when reviewing the debut album of Danish modern metal quintet APHYXION.

The young boys, still in their early twenties, have gathered a rather good reputation by their appearances on prestigious festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Copenhell, massive touring in Europe and shows played alongside well established bands both in and outside of Denmark. APHYXION has managed to play over 100 shows before the age of 20.

The band emerged in 2007, and quickly came to notice by Danish media, as they received nominations and awards for “Best Live Band” at the Danish Metal Awards and won the “Audience Award” at Royal Metal Grand Prix.

Their very first demo was handpicked by the biggest Danish music magazine, Gaffa, as “Demo of the Month”

In 2011 the band won the Danish finals of Wacken Metal Battle, and got to play at Wacken Open Air as the youngest band in the history of the festival.

Just a year after, APHYXION had their first European tour booked even though all the band members had not turned 18 yet.

The debut album “Earth Entangled” was released in 2014 and is produced, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Aborted, Primal Fear etc.) and APHYXION’s own guitarist, Jonas Haagensen.

Besides being nominated for “Best Hard Rock Album” at the prestigious annual Gaffa Awards, “Earth Entangled” has been received with praises from the biggest rock/metal medias around the world:

Metal Hammer comments: “…the new saviours of melodic death metal ……one of the most exciting new bands in Europe and budding figureheads for a melodic death metal scene that’s been stagnating for some time”.

The Guardian comments: “Simultaneously fresh-faced and ferocious, they attack every last riff and roar on debut album Earth Entangled like slavering cacodaemon from the mean streets of, erm, Ribe. This is straightforward modern metal with no gimmicks, and all the better for it.”

Powerplay Magazine (UK) comments: “Earth Entangled is a marvelously heavy and fresh listening experience. Aphyxion are surely destined for big things…” (8 out of 10 stars).

The album will be released on December 2 through Prime Collective.
Releaseparty will be held at RUST in Copenhagen on December 2 and in RIAMUFF in Ribe the day after on December 3.
