ST. PROSTITUTE – interview with Morten Korsholm, guitarist

To be honest the interview with St. Prostitute was unplanned. But I asked some rhetorical questions (among the others), and so we have created the following conversation. Unfortunately Morten was not too garrulous, but he said what was most important…

Hello! I admit that you have an intriguing band’s name. Does it apply to any “saint prostitute”? Besides the biblical Mary Magdalene I didn’t hear about any slut, which has become a saint, hahaha…

Close, but no cigar! Haha… Main purpose was to have a band name that provoke, evoke people?s feelings and a name to be remembered. So far ? Mission Accomplished.

In any case, the band’s name is catchy and taking into account the stereotype of a musician of rock’n’roll then it fits to your music…

Thankyou.

Have you got any groupies?

What happens on the road ? stays on the road! Hahaha…. Looking at the majority of the audiences we have which is male gender, I prefer not to have groupies.

Two brothers play in the band. Does it make that the team becomes more special? Sometimes a family look good only in the photos. What is the case of brothers Korsholm?

Well, I have played with my brother (red.: Fussy) since we literally were kids. I can?t imagine any other constalation ? we have more or less the same philosophy and musically direction, so we don?t pick any fight on that topic. In our case, we can say thing to each other that I would not say to any of the other member of the band. So we get problems solved pretty quick ? direct communications.

Your debut album ‘Here Come The Prostitutes’ had a very positive reception. How do you think about the current album, “Glorified” will also be so well received?

So far the press and reviews have been pretty good. We have done a lot of interviews. The sales is doing OK, so we can?t complain.

I’m curious about your comparison between the two albums? Do you feel some progress, maturity or other difference?

First of all, we are very proud of our new album. It?s straight forward rock with a lot of ?up-tempo? tracks. Whereas the debut album was more diverse in that respect. I think that the band has progressed and that we have a fine ?red line? on this new album.

How would you describe the album “Glorified”?

To quote ?Themidlandsrock? review – St. Prostitute have made that ?difficult second album? into something significant.

And who is glorified in your lyrics on this album?

Isn?t that obvious? No, actually we want the listeners to interpret that themselves.

st_prostitute_glorifiedWho is the woman on the cover of “Glorified”? She doesn’t look like a nun, but maybe she is a fashion model posing for the photo?

She is a saint ? haha!! Why do you even ask….? No, she?s a model we used.

Rueben Cohen (who worked with e.g. FOO FIGHTERS and ROB ZOMBIE) made the mastering for “Glorified”. Probably this cooperation somehow influenced the final result?

YEAH! I mean, the mix was done by Rune Buck who also was the engineer and co-producer on the album AND a dear friend of the band. He did a good job but Rueben just made the result even better.

The release of “Glorifield” belongs to active Danish label Mighy Music. Why did you choose Mighty Music? Or maybe they chose you? Hahaha…

Michael H. Andersen who is the CEO/A&R of Target Group/Mighty Music did approach us and after a few month of negotiation we signed the contract. We are extremely happy with what the entire team @ Mighty Music has done up until now in order to promote the album.

To promote “Glorified” you recorded videos. Tell us more about the producer.

It?s a young talented guy named Ren? from EMPTYHOUSE that did both the music video for L.A. Party (red.: 1st of the album) and the EPK. We are very pleased with the result. All the footage for L.A. Party was done in Copenhagen and our rehearsal room, and the EPK interviews was also done in the rehearsal room as well. The live footage is taken from our performance at this year?s Nordic Noise Festival in Copenhagen.

A few years ago, you played a concert in front of PRETTY MAIDS, there were a lot of people. How does it feel to stand in front of 12 000 audience?

A childhood dream come true ? absolutely amazing feeling. Undescripable but highly addictive. Hahaha.

Where will you play some concerts in this year yet?

We have a few gigs coming up. Both in Denmark and in Sweden. In January 2016 we will do a small DK Tour (6 shows in January). Still more shows are being added to the tour. And the festivals for 2016 are in the making… Stay tuned…

OK. Thanks for the interview. There are only a few weeks to the release of “Glorified” and for that
reason the last words of interview belongs to you…

You are welcome. We are so excited to the international release of the album. 9 October it will be released in Europe and USA. The Japanese release is scheduled on 14 October. Hopefully you all dig the new album and will support us, so we can keep making music.. THANK YOU!
