Mighty Music sometimes surprises me such materials. A very long time I have not listened of Black Metal, so the more eager I reached for this record to describe the contents …

SOLBRUD is a band from Copenhagen, born in 2009. If I well understand that in the line-up of band is three brothers but it could be coincidence of surnames, and maybe it are first names? … The band has one demo and an album, “Solbrud”. And of course this time we are dealing with a second album with the mysterious-sounding tittle “J?rtegn” containing 4 songs that are very long like on the canons of Black Metal. Najkr?tszy track has more than nine minutes, and the longest track is over 15 minutes. So how does they play those gentlemen?…

… The fast, furious, closely woven guitar riffs that bite and tear apart… But at the same time the sombre tone of melodies gives of sadness, despair and melancholy, which also are underlined by the gloomy passages of pure guitar… The intensive furious screams emotionally proclaim lyrics. And all of this is conducted by the medium pace with the frantic accelerations and the monumental decelerations sometimes… Obviously in the album a rage mixed with a melancholy that are the prevailing mood. And the mood is embedded in dense darkness.

Music is a reference to the classics of Scandinavian Black Metal. SOLBRUD walk at the music score like the old gods, like BURZUM, BATHORY, EMPEROR or DARKTHRONE.
